In memory of Amy Kittinger

After a short battle with an aggressive pancreatic cancer, Amy Kittinger, wife of Rich Kittinger (IAFF Local 106 member, WSCFF Trustee) passed away earlier this month at her home surrounded by love and family.

One Amy's biggest regrets was that she would not be on this earth to see her son, Ryan, cured of Friedreich's Ataxia. This genetic disorder seeks to rob his coordination and muscle strength; ultimately leading to motor incapacitation and the full-time use of a wheelchair.

Currently, Ryan is undergoing an experimental treatment that has already provided him the ability to feel areas of his legs that he had previously lost. This treatment is only made available to him because of the financial contributions from donors.

The love we all share for the Kittinger Family is tremendous. It is the family’s wish that, in lieu of flowers and gifts, donations be made to the Friedreich's Ataxia Research Alliance (FARA) to further research efforts.

On behalf of the Kittinger family, the Bellingham/Whatcom Firefighters Benevolent Foundation is organizing to help gather donations to FARA, so that we all may honor their wish.

You can donate in either of two ways.
